As she climbed up the stairs to the Owlery, she thought twice about the letter she was sending her father. Should she tell him about how she felt? About how she felt that hogwarts seemed different this year? Hogwarts had felt differen to Basil ever since that Potter boy had come to the school. He was trouble. Him, his orange headed friend, and the Muggle-born. They all were trouble. She reached the top of the stairs and entered the room, looking around for her owl, the letter she was sending out tightly in her hand.

He stood in the middle of the Owlery, his back to the door. A large barn owl sat on his arm and he was busy tying his letter to the owls claw. He wrote his mother once a month, because the journey was very long. The owl made soft sounds when he stroked her wings.

She raised her fingers to her lips and made a high pitched whistle sound. An owl flew down from above and land on her arm. The barn owl snipped playfully at Basil's fingers. She smiled and began to tie the letter to the leg of the owl; making sure to tie it tightly, knowing that it would fall off if she didn't.

He turned when he heared a whistle. "Ah, goodmorning." He gave the girl a small smile, before walking to the window. The owl unfolded his wings and took off, leaaving red stripes in Hunters arm. Then he turned back to the girl. Ah, she is in my house. I reconize her. Year six ?

He climbed the steps to the Owlery, icily. You could see him fuming and impatient, a tinge of red on his cheeks. As he climbed the steps into the Owlery with a letter clutched in his hand, he cursed out loudly, raging, furious. He hadn't been like this for a long time, when word had reached him, he had shattered, like glass. He thought warily, shaking his head in a languid fashion. Or at least he tried to, but his anger got the best of him. In a few moments he was cursing again, as if he had never cursed in his life. He was so angry, he didn't even notice the other people there. He just scanned the walls for his screech owl, whistling for it when he saw it, perched up on a ledge.

Basil jumped when she heard an unfamiliar voice. Her hand went immediately to her pocket, where her wand was. She looked at the boy, her head tilted to the side. "Good morning." She answered the boy. She felt as she had seen him before... She just couldn't remember. She walked over to a window, stroked her owl one last time and let her fly through the window. She watched as the owl flew farther away until it had disappeared. She turned to the boy, watching him quietly, her wand still in her hand in her pocket.

She turned when she heard footsteps and cursing. She had heard anyone talk like that since... Basil shook her head. No. Don't think about it. She bit her lip and turned back to the other boy, watching Hex from the corner of her eye, wondering why he was so upset.

(No, not yet...)

The screech owl had flew down to him and perched up on his shoulder haughtily, he had named it Derron, he didn't know why, just a random choice of name. Derron had journeyed from Selwyn manor to this noble castle, he didn't like train rides at all but he rather liked flying. Hex thought that it gave the owl a sense of freedom, as he looked deep into those brown eyes, he calmed down a bit. There was a strong bond between him and his owl, ofttimes he thought the owl could look into him, those brown eyes seemed to scan him. He shook his head and smiled at the owl, now knowing that there were other people in here but he payed them no attention.

"Hunter." He said smiling, extanding his hand. "You are in year six, right ?" he had been locking himself up for the last two weeks, making homework. His eyebrows raised when she was the boy. It looked like he wasn't in such a good mood.

She looked at his hand, hiding the fact that she was restraining to ask the question. "Basil." She shook the hand he had offered her, then let her hand drop. "Yeah, I'm in year six. I'm guessing you are too?" She looked at Hex again, noticing he had calmed down a bit. She sighed turning back to Hunter again, still keeping a close eye on Hex.

He followed her gaze to the other boy in the Owlery, and then back to him. Looking her in the eyes, a small smile curled the corlers of his lips slightly. "Yes, me too. Weird that we've never met."

Basil shrugs. "I'm meeting new people every day." She glanced over to Hex, smirking a bit. She had remembered the first time she had met him like yesterday...

"Here." He whispered silently into Derron's ear, most people would have thought him mad, but this owl, this owl was smart, very smart. He understood every word Hex uttered, his father had told him that some owls were like that, but a very few. His screech owl was one of those rare few. He drew out a letter, and tied it to the screech owl's claw idly. He leaned in close to the owl. "This is for mother, it is not to be shown to anyone. Not even for the servants or Father, definitely not too father." The owl nodded, those wise brown eyes staring at him. He let the owl go, and it flew up to the glass less windows and out until it became only a white dot in the blue of the sky.

"No, I mean, we are in the same year, same house, same class." He laughed shortly. "I guess I'm just not very social."

Basil shrugs again. She didn't want to tell him she didn't like people she didn't know. So those in her house she had not talked to, she advoided. There were times when she was feeling friendly and she would talk. She was feeling like that now. She looked over at Hex again, watching him talk to his owl. She smiled. She knew. She knew some owls were smarter than others. She played with the necklace around her neck. The last gift from her brother. An owl. She loved owls and loved to study them. Hex was lucky to have that one. Her owl would slam into a glass window before delivering her package, always. It was like she aimed for the glass. She sighed.

He nodded at the owl before dusting his robes off with his hands, silently. For a few minutes he kept staring at the the white dot, even after it had disappeared, he knew his owl would comply with his orders, bite with his beak if anyone tried to open the letter except for his mother, he was very fond of that owl, sometimes Hex played with him but in the present, matters were getting more serious and he had less time with his owl. At least that time is well spent. He thought bitterly, sighing deeply. He turned to the others, two, he saw. One he recognized, he nodded at Basil and strode forward to meet them.

"Hey, Hex." She said with a nod. She relized she was still playing around with the necklace. She lets go of it and lets her hand drop. "How are you?" She pushed the memory of her brother to the back of her head, like she always did when she thought of him. She looked at Hex, noticing just how much the owl had relaxed him.

"Greetings, Basil." He said coolly with a nod of his head. He fished around in his pocket for a sugar quill before replying. "I'm alright, and you?" It was a lie, a plain lie, though he knew that he couldn't say what he really felt like. It was only courtesy, not the truth though. He sighed wearily, he was getting tired. He started chewing on the quill for a few minutes, deep in thought. Suddenly, he remembered the other person. "Where are my manners?" He wondered aloud before extending his hand to the other person, he noticed the person was wearing green robes. "Most people call me Hex."

"Good morning." He noded at the boy who joined them, he seemed calmed down.the calming effect of animals. Of course he knew it, he always had that with the Mustangs. Thinking of home gave him a weird feeling. He didn't really see it as home any more. He had no home. Since Hunter was accepted on Hogwarts, he had no home. His grandmother wouldn't let him have it. "I'm Hunter, pleasure to meet you."He tried to keep his voice normal. Shaking the hand of the boy, he calmed himself down.

"I'm fine. Thanks." She didn't know how she felt right now. The owl had brought back the memory of her brother. She sighed slowly, watching Hex's movements. She looked over at Hunter, watching the both of them without saying a word...

He nodded at Hunter with approval. "A pleasure to meet you." He said, it was only normal courtesy like before, manners. He was not speaking with his voice, it sounded almost different, his voice. Like another person speaking for him. He sighed sadly, returning to his idle state, thinking, thinking, thinking. Deep in thought, thinking about them and him and them. Endless thought, but eventually it would stop. He knew, but he didn't when, now would be a good time. He shrugged and forced a jovial smile on his face.

Basil leaned up against the wall, crossing her arms, watching. Waiting. She bit her lip thinking. "What have you both been up to?" She asked, trying to break the silence. She hated silence. It was so... Loud? Was that the right word for it? She shrugged, not really caring at this point. She waits, waits for one of the two to answer her.

Lily quietly climbed the stairs to the Owlery, It had been over a week now, and her Owl had still not arrived at Hogwarts. She was beginning to get really worried now, what if he was hurt? She'd had the same owl for her whole time at Hogwarts and couldn't bare to think that something could have happened to him. Upon entering she realised there were others in there, and for a moment she hesitated in the doorway. She took a deep breath and smiled at the 3 people, before heading over to her owl's resting place. When she saw he was still not there, she dropped her head and sighed.

She followed Lily across the room with her eyes. She smiled at her, but her smile slowly melted away as she saw how disappointed she was. What's wrong with her? She asked herself.
