Silver Mist [open]

Dawn hurried up the stairs, listening to her footsteps echoing around the Trophy Room ahead. She had hoped that the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher would teach the Patronus Charm, but it was useless to hope that Lockhart would ever want to actually teach. The Patronus Charm might be on her NEWTs, and even if it wasn't, it was a useful spell to know. She walked to the middle of the room, drawing her wand. She had read that one had to think of a happy memory for the spell to work. She seized upon the memory of learning that she was a witch, and cried, "Expecto Patronum!", waving her wand as she did. Dawn sighed in disappointment as only a faint mist came from her wand. Perhaps the memory wasn't strong enough - learning that she was magical had been tinged with doubt and uncertainty about her family. She tapped her lips, trying to think of a happier one.

Lily had stayed out after curfew once again, upon hearing that Erik had not gone back to the dorms. She quietly made her way to the trophy room and had just reached the door when she noticed a silver glow from the slightly open door. Silently, she pushed the door open, just enough to fit herself in to the low lit room, and glanced around herself a smile on her face. "Hello?" she tentatively whispered in to the darkness, unable to make out who the figure was.

Her eyes widened as she heard Lily's voice and she turned around, lowering her wand. "Hi Lily. And how are you this fine evening?" She felt oddly reluctant to simply say that that she was practicing spells, afraid that she would feel foolish.

Soft singing, Val did her Prefect Duties. Wandering around in the cold and empty Halls of the castle gave her a feeling of peace. She stopped at the at the Trophy Room, noticimg the door was open. "What is going on here ?" Her eyebrows arched, her hands on her hips.

Dawn narrowed her eyes in annoyance, was everyone around the Trophy Room? She swiftly pocketed her lowered wand and lowered her eys, looking around innocently. However, she was unwilling to speak just yet, in case the person just passed by without looking.

Lily had been about to answer the girl when she heard her friends voice. She almost cried out a gleeful greeting when she realised the hour, and instead shrunk in to the shadowed corners of the room, edging towards her hiding place at the back. If she stayed quiet, she hoped she would not be found.

Dawn mouthed a silent goodbye at Lily, she was going to leave before she got detention. She slipped past the figure, staying in the shadow.

She sighed and flicked her hair back. "Another latecomer escaped you, Prince. Be proud." She talked to herself. With a tap of her wand, a light floated around in the room, to seek resting students.

She shrank away from the light, hiding in the most obscure spot of the room, where no light normally reached. She held her breath so as to not make a sound, and refused to move an inch. She couldn't be sure whether her friend would turn her in or not, and couldn't afford to take the risk. Not now.

The light returned to her and she turned around again, closing the door and locking it with the key, wich she put in her pocket. There was no good feeling in her tummy. It felt like there was still somebody here. She shrugged. Who cares.

She heard the door close, then the sound of a key, in a lock. She panicked rushing straight to the door and tried the handle. No luck. She was trapped for the night. She sighed, at least here she had a bed, somewhere safe to rest. She lit a few of the candles around the cabinet containing her parent's photo and went to sit against the wall by the side of it.
