PostSubject: Grieving ...   Sun Sep 09, 2012 8:15 pm

He strode into the Hall, smiling at the students he knew, but it wasn't his usual smile, it was a halfhearted smile, there was a touch of sadness to it. He made his way over to his respective table, and he sat down, glancing around. There was a crowd of students to his left, he recognized the students, all of them but he made no attempt to join them. The sad smile was still on his face, and he thought about his uncle for a while, starting to him to himself, even that was sad.

Basil watched from the Ravenclaw table as Hex came in. There was definitely something wrong with that kid. Something wrong indeed. She leans back watching the Gryffindor for any actions that might give him away. He seemed sad. But why? Basil shook her head hard. Why should she care? She continues to stare at Hex from across the hall, thinking.

He leaned back on the table with his elbows, still humming a melodic tune, watching the other people at the Gryffindor table, smiling a few times. He felt eyes on him, he pursed his lips, but did not look that way, he already knew who it was. After a long time, he eventually grabbed for a goblet and filled it to the brim with pumpkin juice, he tipped the liquid into his mouth and wiped his lips with the back of his hand, trying to appear normal.

Basil tapped her fingers on the table, still watching Hex. After a while, she crossed her arms on the table and rested her chin on them. Hex was strange. Not like anyone who she had met before. She bit her tongue, watching for anything that might give him away...

He was getting annoyed, he wanted to tell her to stop watching him, a frown tinged his face but was quickly replaced by a halfhearted smile at another person he knew. He kept humming though he didn't know why he did so. The goblet was on the table, already finished. He finally turned his head around to Basil and raised his brow questioningly.

ooc - Sorry for the late reply, I was distracted.

Basil smirked a bit when the Gryffindor turned to look at her. She shrugged, still watching him. Was she getting on his nerves? To her it seemed like it. But to him it could be a whole different story. Basil leans back once more, taking a glance about the hall before returning to Hex.

He sighed and shook his head, to not anyone in particular though. He returned to watching the other people on the table, ignoring the stares from Basil, he though about making a mocking comment to her but that was not him, it had been him, when he had momentarily gone insane but well, that wasn't him. Well, that part about going insane was an exaggeration. He chuckled, smiling widely. He was ignoring surprisingly well, it didn't bother him or anything.

Basil tapped her fingers onthe table once more. This was getting boring surprisingly fast. The Gyrffindor showed no signs that she was actually bothering him. He was actually smiling. That wasn't right. Basil shifted in her seat. Why wasn't he reacting? She decided to continue to stare for a bit longer, hoping to get a result.

He felt the gaze of the eyes again but as usual now, he ignored them, he was not trying to frustrate her but rather he thought that she was trying to frustrate him, he shrugged idly, still smiling genuinely, not faking it or anything. He even started joining the conversation that some people were having beside him, it turned out it was about Colin and a lot of people were interested in what the Head Boy had to say, so he talked with them.

Basil mumbled under her breath and turned away from Hex, giving up. It was clear she wasn't going to be able to bother him today. She nudged her bag under them table with her foot and began to hum, not sure what to do with herself now. She stared down at the table now, not paying attention to her surroundings.

"Well, I talked to Madam Pomfrey and she said that they weren't dead. Nick and Collin, there are rumors that Collin's dead but he's not. Nick couldn't be dead since he already is." He said, explaining everything to the crowd of people. "They're just petrified." He told them after a pause. "And I talked to Professor Sprout, she's got this bunch of mandrakes. She's getting something from them - I'm not sure what, to help un-petrify Collin and Nick." He said, crossing his arms. "Well, what do you think the monster is?" A sixth year asked him, and other people murmured agreement. Hex paused, he had to lie. "I don't really know ... It's not a common body bind spell, that's for sure, it's something else. Just walk in groups, okay? Don't wander the corridor's alone. Don't ever go out late at night, that's the only advice I can offer you guys." He said, and lots of people in the group nodded.

Basil traced the wood of the table with her finger. So little to do. She looked up once more to see that a crowd of people had surrounded Hex. She rolled her eyes, turning away and looking towards the Slytherin table. She hadn't seen Lux in quite a while and wondered what he was up to. Basil yawned, turning away and looking down at the table. She was extremely bored. The Hall was no longer interesting to her. It was loud and crowded. If something didn't happen inthe next few minutes she would be leaving.

The large group kept on talking about Colin, but Hex had explained most of it, people kept looking at him hopefully every time a new rumor was stated. He corrected every one of them and listened. He turned his head around and studied Basil, she seemed to be bored, what would she do? He wouldn't just cross over to the Ravenclaw table to talk to her. He would go there for Flight, Thorne and Maple though but he hadn't seen them for ages. He missed them ... terribly. He couldn't help wondering where they were.

ooc - Just in case you wanted to know, those three are my best friends.

Basil rested her forehead on the table. Nothing to do. Nothing to think about. Again, she found her mind to be empty. It rarely happened. But it seemed to be happening more and more these days. And it annoyed her. Oh how she was annoyed how she didn't think. She lifted her head up, rubbing her eyes. Why couldn't the end of the year come quicker? Then again, she didn't want to go home to her family. She wanted to be anywhere but there. Basil yawned once more and looked back down at the table.

OOC: I knew Flight was, but I didn't know about the other two...

He fished around for a piece of parchment in his pocket and found it, though he had no quill or ink. He looked around the Gryffindor table and shifted from his place to another Gryff who was writing a letter, he was practically done now. "Hey, ... Can I borrow those?" He gestured to the quill and ink pot that the sixth year girl was holding. "Sure." The girl said with a smile. He smiled back and quickly wrote out the letter, stuffing it into his pocket as soon as he was done. "Thanks ...?" He trailed off. "Amelia." She said. "Nice to meet you Amelia." He said, smiling warmly. He shifted back to his other position once he had introduced himself to her, but of course she already knew who he was. He would deliver the letter later. It was addressed to his dad ...

Basil was lightly bumping her head against the table out of boredom. Why? She didn't know. It seemed to be taking the pressure of boredom off her, by not completely. She flinched as a group out fourth years sat down right next to her, speaking in loud voices. This was one of the reasons she didn't like the Hall. "You know, there's plenty of room farther down..." She mumbles under her breath, picking up her bag and standing up. She moved down the table, sending one last annoyed look at her house mates before settling down in a different spot once more.
