He strode into the Hall, his nose was buried in a book, that was unusual, very unusual, he slid a bookmark into the page he was on and shut it with force, he didn't want people to think he was a Claw. He moved over to his respective table and slumped, nodding greetings at people he knew, some were looking at him, their mouth's agape, dumbfounded. "What, even I read sometimes!" He exclaimed, frowning, that settled it and everyone stopped looking at him. He went back to reading the book, oblivious to everything else. It was a DADA book, very interesting, counter curses and whatnot to protect yourself against the Dark Arts. He had even cast a patronus in the forest last night, it turned out it was a wolf. A gray wolf at that, kind of like an Arctic one. he supposed he was like a gray wolf, it was cold in the castle but he wore light clothes with only his personal sable cloak. A smile slid onto his face as he remembered that night, trotting through the forest with no fear. He resumed reading the big, leather bound book.

Lucifer walked into the great hall and sat by his respective table. Summoning some coffee and toast, he reached over for the Daily Prophet that was laying on the table and scanned through it.

He poked his head out of the large book, widening his eyes when he saw the time, it wasn't like he had a lesson or something but he had been reading for at least an hour and he had just finished chapter two, there were more twenty chapter in the book, he shook his head, smiling, it would take time to finish this book but it was worth the read, he had already conjured his own patronus which he never had before. He saw Lucifer enter the Hall, but Hex did not do anything, instead summoning his own coffee and sipping it. He gazed at Lucifer for a while.

He shifted slightly as he felt eyes on him and looked up from his paper and scanned the hall for the intrusive eyes. His gaze rested on the head boy. He raised an eyebrow in question at him.

He stared back at the boy, since he had nothing better to do, then his gaze wavered and he resumed drinking his coffee, once he was done, he set the goblet down and summoned an edition of the daily prophet, he started reading it but he found nothing of interest.

He smirked as the head boy backed down and internally patted his own back. Preening to himself he went back to his coffee and Daily Prophet.

ooc Duuuuuude... I have no idea what Lux would be doing with you...

"Hmm ... What to do?" He mused out loud, frowning now. He would read the book later and he had already read one chapter which seemed to be 150 pages. He frowned and stood up, walking over to the Slytherin table, ignoring the confused looks from other Slytherin's. He propped up beside Lucifer, yawning.

ooc - There.

He nearly spat into his coffee when the head boy decided to sit beside him. He placed his coffee down and eyed him warily. He knew he wasn't in any trouble, well. The thought he wasn't in any. Clearing his throat lightly he turned to Hex. "Can I help you?" He folded the Prophet together and placed it neatly on the table.

He chuckled, shaking his head. "You're not in trouble." He said simply as if that solved everything. "Well, you can help me, I want to ask you some questions." He continued without his permission. "I've noticed your out of bed most of the time, past curfew, in these times, have you ever seen something unusual or heard something?" He asked, frowning now.

He looked at the head boy before looking into his cup. "Unusual? Are you talking about the thing that lurks in the corridors?" He shrugged nonchalantly. "I don't know much about it. But..." He trailed off trying to remember. "There was one day, I was following Rory and Zabini out in the forest. He showed us that something was killing off roosters." He scratched his cheek.

"Yes, I'm talking about that thing, whatever it is, it has the ability to petrify people, it cannot be a simple body-bind curse obviously. Killing the roosters? Hmm?" That only added further suspicions. "At first, I'd say that it was a Basilisk but how the unicorn can a creature that size slither down the corridors?" He said, his face thoughtful.

His interest was perked. "A Basilisk you say? Basilisk are scared of rooster." He muttered quietly. "But you're right. How would a giant monster go unnoticed?" He leaned back on his hands. "Probably got something to do with the chamber of secrets." He mused. "Hogwarts has hidden passages does it not?" He shrugged.

"So, it can't really be a basilisk." He stated. "Anyone would have saw it, do you know any other creature like this? I'm not an expert at magical creatures, only taking the required subjects for the requirement of an Auror." He explained, pouring himself another cup of coffee, he sipped it. "It does indeed, have you ever been to the room of requirement?" He said, smiling slyly. "Now, I have no idea where the chamber is, there have been stories but none true. Do you know any, considering Salazar Slytherin hid it? Any rumors? Anything would be useful.

He nodded in agreement. "Kinda heard not to spot a big slimy snake hm?" He glanced at Hex. "If you want to know about magical creatures, ask Rory. I know nothing about them. Nor do I have a reason to." He pushed the paper out of the way and spread lemon curd on a piece of toast. "You have only just discovered that room? I have been there a couple of times, nifty place I must say. Stumbled upon it by accident." He blinked, wondering why he was so chatty. "How did you manage to find it? And why would you think that I know anything about the chamber?

"Indeed." He repeated, yawning again. "Rory? Will do, he's an expert then? No, I found it by mistake also, in my second year, you probably do not want to know what I was looking for." He said stifling another yawn, he was weary and tired. "Because you're a Slytherin, aren't there any stories about how the chamber was formed? I do not listen to old wives tales, but every piece of evidence is now crucial." He sipped at his coffee again.

"An expert? I don't know. I just know that he likes nature and creatures both muggle and magical. The whole package." He shrugged once again, if he kept this up he would find a kink in his shoulder sooner or later. "I have not been told any 'old wives tales' when I was a boy until this day." He quieted down for a while thinking to himself. "I have nothing else I wish to share with you."

"Alright, alright." He murmured, partially to himself, continuing to sip at the goblet which was still filled with coffee to the brim. "Alright then, I'll stop asking questions then." He nodded at he boy and remained seated at the Slytherin table. A quiet silence settled in between them.

He nodded at Hex. "And how goes your gallant quest of finding this monster?" He looked around the table for something other than coffee to drink.

"Well, I've given up, it drove me half mad, mysteries do drive me half mad, but now I'm myself. I only asked you since I had nothing to better to do, unless reading this book." He gestured at the large, leather bound book. "It is a ... tad bit too large for me but it is interesting."

He chuckled at Hex's explanation. "Mysteries does that to some people. But that's the fun in them. Otherwise they won't be called mysteries." He looked over towards the book. "That is a hefty book. What on earth are you planning to accomplish with that?"

"Yes, they do." He said, looking at the ceiling wistfully, he seemed to be doing that a lot of times now. "It's about DADA, better then anything Lockhart will teach. The first chapter is about patronus's, I conjured one." He said proudly. "I thought about me ... well, never mind. I never conjured one before because I don't really see dementors around here." He said, smiling wistfully. "Mine is an arctic wolf. Do you have a patronus?" He asked absently.

He made a choking noise at the mention of the bubbling baboon Lockhart. "What was Dumbledore thinking hiring him?" He shook his head in dismay. "Patronus' eh? No. I have yet to conjure one. As you said, never found the reason to." He looked at Hex and raised an eyebrow. "How can you tell the difference of an arctic wolf from a grey wolf when the patronus is white?" He leaned back on his hands. "But if I were to successfully conjure a patronus, it would probably be a big cat or a fox." He nodded to himself.

"I know, only the girls like him, but the sensible ones don't." He shrugged nonchalantly. "Well, good point there, but it felt like ... an arctic wolf. I know it doesn't make any sense, but when you do cast one, it has a bond with you, or at least according to the book." He grinned. He nodded at Lucifer.

He snorted when Hex mentioned girls fawning over the idiot. "Bonds huh?" He shook his head. "Best not get into things like that. Once severed they are hard to mend again." He wanted no part in any sort of bonding. Things were already hectic enough.

"Well, a bond with a patronus can't be severed can it?" He leaned back on the table, the Slytherin table had returned to their own usual activities, though some were still eyeing the Head Boy warily.
