The Three Broomsticks? What?(Open)

She seperated from the group as everyone went their seperate ways, all in pairs except her. She just shrugged, looking about the village. It was her first time here, and the small little village was everything she had heard; loud, busy, beautiful, delicious smells, shops everywhere. Most of the stores she couldn't make sens of. She needed a drink desperately, water or cool lemonade, as her grandparents always gave her on a very hot day. She walked into some restaurant, friendly enough looking, wondering at the name. Three Broomsticks? She shook her head.

Raven walked through the door to the Three Broomsticks, being shoved roughly into the doorframe by three 6th year boys. She had half a mind to hex them, but resisted. Walking up to the front of the bar, she waited in line for a Butterbeer, tapping her foot rather impatiently.

She walked up to the counter, squeezing her way past people. Her hair got slightly frizzed, her dress's hem wild. She smooved it down, patted her blonde hair, then looked up to greet the bar tender. She noticed a slightly younger girl beside her, she didn't know what house, who was also alone. At least I am not the only one, she thought. Charlotte looked at the menu, confused at what to get."Umm..A cool lemonade?" The bartender frowned at her.

Raven looked up at the older girl, and grinned when she ordered a lemonade.
"They don't have that here."
She rummaged around a bit in her purse before pulling out 3 sickles, one Knut.
"I'd recommend Butterbeer, although I suppose if you like the burn you are old enough for firewhiskey...."
Raven payed the bartender and he brought up a frothy glass of Butterbeer.
"Try it. The taste isn't for everyone, but most people like it."
She passed Charlotte the glass.

Raven looked up at the older girl, and grinned when she ordered a lemonade.
"They don't have that here."

Charlotte was abruptly startled by the girl."No lemonade? What is this place..."As the girl passed down the recommended drink, she looked at it suspiciously, the foaming brim."Thank you, I don't have much wizard money."Butterbeer? Is it acoholic? If so, I am not allowed to then."This place was getting stranger and stranger. Three Broomsticks, no lemonade?..The mention of "firewhisky" made her freeze for a second. Was this some sort of bar?

She laughed.
"Nope, no alcohol. Try it, it's actually pretty good. And don't worry. I don't have very much wizarding money either."
She smiled. This girl must be from somewhere else...judging by her accent, probably from the states. She decided not to comment on it. She probably already felt pretty out of place amongst all these British/English children, and she didn't need to point it out. Raven knew what it felt like to be out of place, especially recently with all the rumors flying about her. There were very few people who hadn't heard at least one of the rumors.

She nodded, still unsure. This girl seemed friendly enough, and she trusted her already. Charlotte realized, in fact, that she was one of the only people to not point out her accent. Smiling, Charlotte brought the drink to her mouth and tulk a small sip; the taste was..out of this world. It was creamy and lush, warm yet cool. It was almost as good as lemonade, perhaps better.

"It's good, isn't it?" She smiled and ordered a second one for herself.
"Hey, what's your name?"
She blurted, forgetting that it might sound rude.

She put it down, knowing she shouldn't have too much of it; she'd get addicted, and that made her go nuts. Literally. At the innocent question, she smiled."Charlotte Solo. My friends call me Charlie. My old friends, anyway. You?" Noticing they were holding up the line, Charlotte began to head for an empty table.

Raven followed after Charlotte, sliding into a seat opposite her.
"Charlotte? That's a nice name. I like it. Raven. Raven Dragomir."
She smiled and sipped the butterbeer.

She beamed at her."Raven? Wow, what a nice name." She continued sipping her butterbeer, looking about her surroundings; everything seemed so strange. Usually new schools gave her a tour of the place, but she assumed Hogwarts was just too large. Wonderful. Too bad she didn't have a tour guide to help her out. She giggled slightly.

Raven noticed her looking around, and smiled, sipping her own Butterbeer.
"It's nice here, isn't it?"
She tugged at a stray lock of her hair and looked around at all the people chatting.

Charlotte nodded thoughtfully."Yes, Hogwarts is quite extraordinary. I was actually homeschooled as a witch since I was a child. I was pretty much cut off from the wizarding world, but I know some spells and potions." She smiled at Raven."There's so much I don't know here. What house are you in? Why does it even matter if we're sorted into houses?"

Raven shrugged.
"Beats me. I'm in Gryffindor. But I think my mother's whole family has been in Ravenclaw, I'm not sure. I've tried to find out in the history books, but.."
She leaned in close to whisper.
"Madam Pince is like, in LOVE with her history books. I can't work with her breathing down my neck."
She grinned.
"But I don't really believe in all that house hostility towards others. Some Gryffindors can't walk past a Slytherin without sneering and making some rude remark. I think we are all people, we should be able to get along....what house are you in?"

She took small dink of her butterbeer then replied,"Yes, Madam Pince is quite touchy I have noticed."I am in Slytherin."She fidgeted slightly."I hear they--we are quite the school bullies."

James walked into the Three Broomsticks, he noticed it was slightly crowded. He didn't mind it much. Finally, seeing a few 6th year Ravenclaw's, he walked over to them but was blocked by a Slytherin and a Gryffindor. Slytherins and Gryffindors... Talking?

As soon as she had asked her questions, she immediately noticed someone staring at them. He had appeared so abrupt, and his expression seemed shocked, bewildered. Charlotte raised her eyebrows.

She nodded.
"I know some pretty nasty Slytherins, it's true. But some of the Gryffindors and Ravenclaws are also arrogant..."
She turned to see James enter the Three Broomsticks, and walked near them, his eyes momentarily on a group of Ravenclaws, before flicking to stare at them. It was that boy, what was his name? Jared? James, that was it. The boy she had met -briefly- in the Owlry. She lowered her glass from where she had been about to take a sip and surveyed him and Charlotte, noting that a group of third years were pointing at her. She decided to ignore them and turned her attention back to Charlotte and the Ravenclaw, James.

He saw Charlotte raising her eyebrows. "Hmm" he was surprised. "It is rare..to see a Gryffindor and Slytherin talking to each other. You two almost seem to be enjoying the conversation." He took a step forward towards Charlotte. "You don't want to be talking to...people like her." He whispered;almost smiling.

Raven ran her fingers through her hair, watching James whisper something to Charlotte. She raised her butterbeer to her lips and took a sip, silently watching while keeping an eye on the rest of the Three Broomsticks.

She listened carefully to his words."Why ever not?" She asked. However, she did have a guess; it seemed as though Slytherins kept to themselves and resented other houses. Why was it so strange for a Gryffindor, especially, though? She frowned at him, her curly blonde hair hung to the side as he whispered. She glanced at Raven, biting her lip, before saying,"What's the matter with her? She's perfectly nice." Though she had been a homeschooled Pureblood, Charlotte had never known any other wizards beside herself and family, and did not know of the conflicts between blood status.
