Down for a drink [open]

"Well Paris, it's very nice to meet you, will you be joining us?"
Lily wouldn't usually speak to strangers so casually, yet tonight she had spoken to two. It seemed that she was getting over her fear of socialising and she found that she rather enjoyed the company of others.
She took another sip of her Butterbeer, wiping from her skirt a few drops that Rory had spluttered over her in his surprise. She thought to herself why would he even react that way? but dismissed the though with another sip of her drink.

Tom was returning with his ice tea, and Paris handed over a few coins before pulling the glass closer to himself.

"That's very kind. I won't impose for too long, I have some errands to take care of today." His voice was level, smooth, almost cool.

"Busy huh? I guess it's good to have something to do" she spoke with a friendly but cautious tone. "Rory? It is ok for him to sit with us right?" Lily smiled brightly at him, hoping he'd snapped out of whatever had come over him.

Rory only sat quietly on his seat. He sipped at his own drink. There were only a few more sips left. Maybe he had too many of these... He decided his next drink would be tea or something along those lines. He looked over at Lily and noded, smiling. Frankly he was a bit surprised she would ask him that...

Lily was getting more and more anxious by the minute, Rory had gone quiet and Paris seemed to keep to himself. She longed to hear someone laugh, but she struggled to find the right thing to say, instead she just sat smiling at the two of them, but the spark was fading from her eyes.

Paris simply sat down without a word, and took a sip of his tea, savouring the chill. There was a bit of a pause as he waited for the others to strike back up their conversation, but Rory seemed to have lost his will to speak somewhere along the way.

"...Frankly, I'd rather not be busy on a day like today." he replied to fill the silence, somewhat belatedly. "It's too hot to be running around." He offered Lily a small smile.

"That is so true. The heat is rather unbearable today" She couldn't believe talk had turned to the weather.. but she smiled back grateful for the conversation, be it an idle topic. "So what errands are you running?"
She glanced at Rory unsettled by his silence and uncomfortable posture, but gave her attention to Paris in order to be polite and attentive.

Rory remained quiet. He really didn't want to flash his abhorant accent, especially in front a Slytherin. The Irish boy simply preteneded to be iterested in what Paris was saying.

He seemed unfazed by the slightly awkward air. Honestly, it was more interesting to observe than a relaxed one.

"Oh, this and that. I'm planning to place a special order with Flourish and Blotts for some hard to come by titles. I have a meeting scheduled later, so I shouldn't wait too long to get it done, or I'll be late."

"oh of course," she smiled but it did nit reach her eyes, "I hope you make it on time, you know what the clocks are like in this place". She laughed but it just sounded forced..
She had guessed that Rory was hiding his accent and sent a smile with sparkle in her eyes his way hoping that he'd at least cheer up.

Rory idly listened to the Slytherin boy, not really caring. He caught the smile from the redhaired girl. He returned the smile a bit.

the silence that had fallen made her nervous so lily started twirling her hair and chewing her lip waiting for somone to say something

"Of course. It's probably wasted effort anyway, mother is almost always late to everything."

He hadn't seen her last Christmas or Easter; it had been a year now, yet he seemed almost bored at the prospect of meeting with her. He calmly sipped on his tea.

"I don't think I've seen you around Hogwarts, Lily, but I suppose I've just missed you?"

"You must've missed me, i'm in sixth now. Then again, i'm a gryff so we wouldn't exactly be in the same circles anyway" she laughed genuinely, glad for the silence to have been broken.

Rory remain quiet. He really didn't have anything to say in the first place though, making this seem a little less odd. After downing the rest of the last few sips of his drink, he pushed the mug out of the way and rest his elbow on the table, propping his head on his hands.

"Ah, I see." Another Gryffindor. Not that he hadn't suspected it. House mates did tend to clump together. "In difference from me and O'Conner, of course, who have classes together."

Paris crossed his legs, and looked over at Rory's slumped over form.

"yes, well, you ARE in the same year" smiles then looks at Rory. She couldn't even smile at him, he seemed so encased in himself to her and she didn't like it. Thinking of their earlier conversation she cannot believe this is the same person. She sighed then drained her drink and sat back in her chair.

Rory listened a bit more closely now. Paris was speaking. He noded, as if confirming they had classes together. Idly, the boy pushed his hair from his eyes. The Irish boy was mre than a little confused when Lily gave him that weird look. He brushed his hair back again, wondering what stupid thing he had done this time.

Lily smiled to herself, she'd done rather well socialising with two strangers and not haveing a freak-out, that made her laugh to herself which must have looked strange but she didn't mind. She thought to herself it's been so lovely to have company for a change, especially his she looked over at Rory, her eyes sparkling, he'd made her come out of her shell without her even realising.

He couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at hearing Lily chuckle seemingly for no reason. Oh, well. Things didn't seem to be getting more interesting here, and he really did have errands to tend to. He emptied his glass, and let an ice cube follow the last of the tea into his mouth. He chewed it into slush and swallowed it down as he got out of his seat.

"We'll see each other at school, I expect. O'Conner, Lily." He raised one hand in a lazy wave, and went for the door.

"farewell" she replied cheerfully before raising her glass for a refill throwing some money on the table. She gave a little giggle then smiled at Rory. "You gonna talk now he's gone?" she said playfully with a grin

Rory gave the same two fingered salute in parting as he did in greeting. Idly he wondered if Paris even knew his first name, but didn't read to far into it. The Irish boy sent a small glance to Lily to see what she was doing. He grinned. "No, not gon' say a word." He joked.

She laughed the spark coming back into her eyes, "I don't know why you didn't say anything, he was being nice.. which is a rarity from most slyths that I know!" Lily gave him a warm smile that could melt hearts, and took a sip of her Butterbeer before giving him a cheeky grin.

He shurgged a bit. "Some o' them do that. Pretend t' be nice, I ne'er really pay 'em much mind. 'Sides, snake 'r always t' ones to be laughing a' me..." He let his voice trail on the last sentance, staring down at his own hands, not haveing a mug to hide in anymore.
